If you are planning your first visit to GC Chiropractor, welcome. Starting Chiropractic care is a powerful step toward reconnecting with your body and creating lasting health changes.

We know that trying something new can come with a few questions, so we have gathered the most common ones our new patients ask, along with honest answers that will help you feel more comfortable and informed.

FAQ- First Chiropractic Appointment

1. Does the treatment hurt?

Absolutely not. We work gently with the body, not against it. Our approach is respectful and collaborative. Some patients may experience minor discomfort during or after a session, but this is typically short-lived and part of the natural adjustment and healing process.

2. Do you accept medical aid?

We accept Discovery and Medscheme. Our rates are set at medical aid rates, and your medical aid should reimburse you for the appointment if it is within your benefit limits. For other medical aids, we are happy to provide an invoice you can submit directly to your provider.

3. What should I wear?

Wear whatever feels comfortable for you that day. There is no need to dress in anything specific. We have clean shorts and gowns available at the practice in case a change is needed for any assessments or treatments.

4. How long will my first appointment be?

Your first visit is usually between 45 minutes and 1 hour. This allows us time to go through your health history, do a full body and movement assessment, and begin care if appropriate.

5. Will I be treated on the first visit?

In most cases, yes. Unless something in your assessment suggests we should hold off, we begin treatment during your first session. This allows us to start shifting patterns gently and give you early support.

6. What do I need to bring?

Yourself, your ID, and any medical aid information. If you have X-rays, MRIs, or other reports, you are welcome to bring them, but they are not essential. We will work with what your body tells us on the day.

7. How many sessions will I need?

This is different for everyone. Some patients come in for one or two sessions to address a specific issue. Others choose to receive ongoing care to maintain balance and wellbeing. We will always discuss your goals with you and create a care plan that makes sense for your life and body.
